## About the Role Instawork Robotics (IRL) deploys skilled workers into real commercial/residential environments to capture task data used to train robotics foundation models. This part-time role manages maintenance, calibration, and local deployment of a fleet of 600 custom wearable camera rigs — sitting at the intersection of precision electronics, mechanical assembly, and field operations. ## Required Skills & Qualifications - Education: ITI or Diploma in Electronics, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering - Proven background repairing small-form-factor electronics (smartphones, drones, action cameras) - High dexterity with precision hand tools, multimeters, soldering stations - Deep understanding of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) safety protocols - Comfortable navigating Linux/Windows diagnostic shells and firmware update tools - Valid two-wheeler license and personal vehicle for local travel ## Nice-to-Haves Experience with robotics/sensors/wearables/cameras/prototype hardware, firmware flashing, Linux/Android/embedded devices, basic networking, early-stage startup experience, comfort using AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code). ## Key Responsibilities - Field hardware support: maintain and troubleshoot cameras, sensors, batteries, storage media, mounts - Device configuration: setup, provisioning, firmware flashing, calibration, readiness checks - Issue resolution: diagnose field issues, document recurring failures, escalate complex problems - Repair & refurbishment: replace damaged components, manage spare parts inventory - Operator enablement: support field operators with fit/setup/charging workflows ## How to Prepare for This Role ### Core Technical Topics to Master ESD-safe handling procedures, small-form-factor electronics repair (soldering, precision disassembly), basic Linux command-line diagnostics, firmware flashing workflows, multimeter-based fault diagnosis. ### Interview Preparation Common questions: walk through how you'd diagnose a camera rig that stopped transmitting data, what ESD precautions do you follow when handling sensitive electronics, describe a hardware repair you're proud of.
