## About This Recruitment The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) 02/2026 for **Technician Grade I (Signal)** and **Technician Grade III** posts across various Railway Zones under Indian Railways. This is a Group C, non-gazetted, pensionable government post offering long-term job security, railway housing/pass benefits, and a clear promotion ladder within the Railway technical cadre. - Technician Grade I (Signal): 323 posts, starting basic pay ₹29,200 (Level 3/4, 7th CPC) - Technician Grade III: 6,234 posts, starting basic pay ₹19,900 (Level 2, 7th CPC) ## Eligibility Criteria - **Age limit:** 18–33 years (Grade I Signal), 18–30 years (Grade III), as on the notified date - **Age relaxation:** OBC +3 years, SC/ST +5 years, PwBD +10 years (as per Government of India norms) - **Educational qualification:** Grade III — 10th pass + ITI certificate in a relevant trade, or 10+2 with Physics/Maths (varies by discipline). Grade I Signal — Diploma/Degree in relevant Engineering discipline. - **Nationality:** Indian citizen - **Physical standards:** Applicable medical fitness standards for railway safety categories; candidates must clear the prescribed medical examination. ## Exam Pattern & Syllabus **Stage 1 — Computer Based Test (CBT):** Objective type, single stage - General Awareness — 20 questions - General Intelligence & Reasoning — 25 questions - Basic Science & Engineering (or General Science for Grade III non-technical trades) — 20 questions - Mathematics — 25 questions - Total: 90 questions, 90 minutes, negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer **Subject-wise Detailed Syllabus** *General Intelligence & Reasoning:* Analogies, alphabetical/number series, coding-decoding, mathematical operations, syllogism, jumbling, data sufficiency, statement-conclusion, direction sense, blood relations, decision-making, similarities/differences, analytical reasoning, classification. *Mathematics:* Number systems, BODMAS, decimals, fractions, LCM/HCF, ratio-proportion, percentages, mensuration, time-work-speed-distance, profit-loss, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics/data interpretation. *General Science (Grade III) / Basic Engineering (Grade I Signal):* Physics and chemistry at 10th standard level for Grade III; for Grade I Signal — basic electrical/electronics engineering, signalling systems fundamentals, mechanical/civil engineering basics depending on discipline. *General Awareness:* Current affairs, Indian Railways history and structure, geography, culture, sports, science and technology, economics, politics, static GK. **Stage 2 — Document Verification & Medical Examination** for CBT-qualified candidates in the merit list. ## Complete Preparation Strategy **Month 1:** Build fundamentals — NCERT Class 9–10 Physics/Chemistry/Maths, reasoning basics (RS Aggarwal), daily current affairs (15 min/day). **Month 2:** Topic-wise practice sets for each subject; start solving previous year RRB Group D/Technician papers; time yourself. **Month 3:** Full-length mock tests 3x/week on RRB-pattern platforms (Testbook, Adda247, PW), analyze mistakes, focus on weak sections, revise formulas and static GK notes. **Best Books & Study Material** - Lucent's General Science (for GS-heavy discipline) - RS Aggarwal - Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning - Railway previous year papers compilation (Kiran Publication) - Free: NCERT textbooks (Class 9-10), PIB current affairs, RRB official website updates **Previous Year Question Analysis:** Reasoning and Mathematics sections have historically carried the highest weightage (25 questions each); General Awareness questions skew toward Railways-specific and national current affairs from the preceding 6 months. **Mock Test Strategy:** Begin full mocks from Month 2 onward, minimum 15–20 full-length tests before the CBT; review every incorrect answer. ## Important Dates - Notification released: 29 June 2026 - Application window: open until 29 July 2026 - CBT exam date: to be announced separately by RRB ## Application Fee - General/OBC/EWS: ₹500 (₹400 refundable on appearing for CBT) - SC/ST/PwBD/Women/Ex-Servicemen/Minorities (economically backward): ₹250 (fully refundable on appearing) ## How to Apply 1. Visit the official RRB application portal at rrbapply.gov.in 2. Register with a valid email ID and mobile number to generate login credentials 3. Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) if not already done 4. Select CEN 02/2026 and choose the relevant post/discipline 5. Fill in personal, educational, and category details accurately 6. Upload photograph and signature as per specified format and size 7. Pay the application fee online (net banking/UPI/card) 8. Review and submit; download the confirmation page for your records ## Selection Process CBT → Document Verification → Medical Examination → Final merit list based on CBT score, subject to medical fitness and category-wise vacancy availability. ## Post-Selection - **Training:** Initial technical/safety training at Railway zonal training institutes before posting - **Posting locations:** Assigned across the applied Railway Zone; can include remote sections - **Career growth:** Grade III → Grade II → Grade I with departmental exams and seniority; further growth into Senior Technician and supervisory technical cadres - **Benefits:** Railway pass/PTO for travel, medical facilities under Railway health scheme, pension under NPS, HRA/DA as per 7th CPC
